Could it be the thing that rescues us from this sinking economy? Fresh off his meeting at the White House yesterday with President Obama, Governor Corzine says there is a lot of enthusiasm for creating green collar jobs. He highlighted one such program in Trenton which is training entry level workers to insulate homes and increase energy efficiency. An emerging market? The Governor and Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner David Socolow seem to think so.
Once these young people are trained perhaps it will lead to entrepreneurial innovation and eventually new industries. Let’s hope they start to make up for the loss of jobs in the financial services industry. Because it is possible those jobs are never coming back. New Jersey innovated with new technologies after it’s manufacturing base collpased, perhaps this is the answer now.
